Women to commute free of cost from 1 pm
Bengaluru, June 11: Apart from free bus travel for all the women across the state which has kick started under the “SHAKTI” scheme smart cards will be issued free of cost, said Transport and Muzrai minister Ramalinga Reddy.
Just before launching of SHAKTI scheme at the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha on Sunday Reddy said that until the free smart cards are issued any government issued id cards can be flashed to conductor, he suggested.
“All women can commute free of cost from 1 pm today. Of the 6.5 crore population 50 of the population benefot from this. There is no restrictions on APL or BPL card holders. All women of the state can avail the scheme to commute length and breadth of the state,” he said.
Congress is following what it promised. The BJP imolemented only 10 per cent of the promises during its tenure. But Congress during the Chief Ministership of Siddaramaiah 158 of 165 promises were fulfilled. Now, all five guarantees will be implemented unconditionally, he informed.
The SHAKTI scheme is launched across all the districts today by district in-charge ministers.
Chief minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy chief minister, transport minister Ramalinga Reddy, Power minister KJ George, Primary and Secondary Education minister Madhu Bangarappa and others were present on the occasion.
