Veteran Bollywood producer passes away at 91

Bengaluru, Aug. 23: Veteran Bollywood producer of multi-starrer block buster films and a philanthropist Abdul Gaffar Nadiadwala passed away on early morning of August 22 at Breach Candy hospital following prolonged illness. He was 91 year old.

Nadiadwala is father of Mehnaaz Nadiadwala and firoz Nadiadwala. The news of his demise was shared by his son Firoz Nadiadwala.

The talented and acclaimed producer Abdul Gaffar Nadiadwala is known for producing comedy films such as ‘Hera Pheri’ and ‘Welcome’.

He was also presenter of the multiple award winning film ‘Its a girl’ about Save the girl child. The film was globally acclaimed and won 22 international awards. Gaffar bhai was a humble and loving soul. May his soul rest in peace and rise in heaven.

In a career spanning nearly 69 years, Abdul Gaffar Nadiadwala has produced more than 50 Hindi films. He was also the producer of popular films like Welcome (2007), Hera Pheri (2000), Awara Paagal Deewana (2002), etc. Later, the producer went on to make cult status in India and was also considered to be one of the finest comedies of Indian cinema.

Abdul Gaffar Nadiadwala has produced films like Shankar Shambhu, Aa Gale Lag Jaa, Jhutha Sach, Lahoo Ke Do Rang, Watan Ke Rakhwale, Sone Pe Suhaaga, and others. He has the distinction of producing Mahabharat (1965), starring Pradeep Kumar and Dara Singh in pivotal roles.

The producer reportedly suffered a massive cardiac. After the news of Nadiadwala’s demise surfaced online, Ajay Devgn took to Twitter and paid his respects.
