Sunkadakatte acid attack victim shifted to ICU

Bengaluru, May 29: The 23-year-old Sunkadakatte acid attack victim has been shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) yet again following health complications post-surgery, according to police sources.

Jilted lover Nagesh Nagesh, who was waiting in an auto near the workplace of the girl in Sunkadakatte had chased and splashed acid on her on April 28. The police traced him on May 13 and shot him in the leg after he tried to escape from them while being brought back to Bengaluru.

After one month, the victim developed complications after undergoing 5th surgery. She had suffered 36 per cent burn injuries. The girl is in semiconscious condition and responding to the treatment.

Unfortunately, there is a drop in her oxygen levels and she has been shifted to the ICU ward. Due to deep burn injuries there is possibility of pus formation. The skin construction has begun and she has expected to stay for at least one more month in the hospital.

The hospital authorities are in constant touch with the family members and are updating on the condition of the patient. The police said that the accused studied in the same school with the victim in SSLC (Class 10). He turned into a spurned lover due to rejection from the girl and had attacked her.

Health Minister K. Sudhakar had visited the acid attack victim in the hospital and assured free treatment. He assured her of a suitable government job once she recovers. The attacker who was at large was hiding in Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu.
