Revised electricity tariff applicable from today

Second revision within foir months

BHA condemned the hike

Bengaluru, Oct. 1: The electricity charges which saw an upward revision just a quarter back has been tevised yet again and will be effective from October 1.

The Karnataka Electrricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) revised and charhes and the same has been approved by the staye government. The revisedelectricity charges will reflect in November bill.
Already the citizens have been burdened with the hike in prices of petrol, diesel, commercial and domestic gas and now would have to brace up to pay revised electricity charges as well.

Based on the reqests from all the escoms including BESCOM, KERC approved a revision of electricity tariff ranging from 23 paise to 43 paise per unit and issued an order.

Escoms have been suffering loss due to increased input costs. The tariffs have to be revised every quarter and the same has been done. Both state government and Energy Minister Sunil Kumar defended the tariff revision and said the tariff revision is inevitable.

The hotel industry which is recovering post Covid impact has requested the state government to bring down the taxes on the electricity consumption.

The members of Bengaluru Hotel Association (BHA) has condemned the tariff hike and has petitioned to bring down the taxes on electrucity consumption from 9 per cent to 4 per cent.
