Man held for cheating 26 women, promising them to marry

Cyber Crime slueths on Monday arrested a person who cheated as many as 26 women after promising them of marriage.
The accused used matrimonial sites to find victims and cooling his heels in prison after making a futile attempt on a woman who worked in police department.

The accused is identified as Jai Bheem Vittal Padukoti, 33, a resident of Vijayapur. The cops have seized a luxury car and freezed his bank accounts.

The accused is employed as a lineman with Hescom after the death of his father. He was married to one Kavitha in 2013 and killed her during a quarrel. He was imprisoned for two years.

Coming out from the prison after obtaining bail, he resorted to cheating women on the pretext of marrying them to lead a luxury life. The accused had created fake accounts in matrimonial sites and claimed that he is a section officer in Hescom.

The police have gathered evidences on the accused for cheating three women after developing physical intimacy on the pretext of marrying them. The accused had cheated 27 women in Shivamogga, Haveri, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Dharwad, Hubballi, Yadgiri and Raichur districts. He had also taken Rs 21.30 lakh from the victims.

The accused ran out of luck after sending similar request to a woman who worked in the police department on contract basis. After observing his moves, the victim grew suspicious and informed police officers.
