Bengaluru, March.23: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said he has a dream to build ‘Knowledge City’ near Bengaluru where the best universities of international repute must come to set up their campuses and the students must get the opportunity to study.
Speaking after inaugurating the renovated campus of the Bengaluru Urban University here on Thursday, he said the Indian Institute of Technologies, Harward University, and other foreign varsities must come here, learn and write the future of the students. There are six academic institutions and deemed universities in Bengaluru University ambit and all of them are given development grants. All those institutions will contribute to it. In the whole world, there are some educational institutions in one place and common facilities must be created for them and attract more students. It is being implemented on a pilot basis. If it proves successful it will be extended to all the educational districts in the State in the interest of students.
New Education Policy
Bommai said the New Education Policy has been implemented and there is a provision to obtain two degrees in three years. Since there is a scope for personality development, all necessary opportunities and grants will be extended. The new policy has been implemented after three years of research and Karnataka is the first state to implement the policy.
Higher Education Minister Dr.C.N.Ashwath Narayana, Minister Prabhu Chavan, Bengaluru Urban University VC Prof Lingaraj Gandhi and others were present.
