Community Health Centers to be linked with six commander centres, says CM Bommai

Bengaluru, Oct.6: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said six commander centres will be linked to the Community Health Centers to give suggestions and instructions by a team of doctors who will work 24 X 7 through telemedicine.

He was speaking after inaugurating 50-beded strength of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular sciences and Research (Satellite Centre) at K.C.General Hospital and dedication of ICU at Indira Gandhi Child Health here on Thursday, he said 100 Primary Health Centres will be upgraded as Community Health Centres and provide facilities and increase bed strength at a cost of Rs 7 lakh to 8 lakh each.

The upgraded Community Health Centres and the existing centres would be linked with telemedicine systems. As many as 81 new PHCs’ are being constructed. It has been decided to conduct free health checkup camps in village and taluk levels for senior citizens. A similar health camp will be held for the 60 plus population at zonal level in Bengaluru City.

The program of free eye testing for senior citizens, free surgery, if necessary and free spectacles will be given to the poor. For the hearing impaired, free implant surgery will be conducted. For these healthcare activities, Rs 500 crore has been earmarked. The dialysis cycle has been increased from 30,000 to 60,000. Even the Chemotherapy centres have been increased. Rules will be simplified for the use of Ayushman Cards, he added.
