BESCOM WhatsApp helpline gets thumbs up from consumers

Bengaluru, June 1: BESCOM WhatsApp helpline numbers which was released last week to resolve power related issues had received good response from the consumers.

Energy minister V. Sunil Kumar on May 24 had released the 11 WhatsApp helpline numbers for 8 districts of BESCOM consumers to send WhatsApp messages related to power outage and power related issues.

After releasing numbers to the public, the WhatsApp helpline had received 736 complaints from the consumers in which 628 complaints have been resolved.
WhatsApp numbers had released to the public to send the message to 1912 helpline. However, consumers have been sending photos and videos of power related issues, TC failures and photos regarding power line touching trees and residential buildings.

Due to sending of photos and videos through WhatsApp helpline helps the BESCOM officials to resolve the power related issues on priority basis. Even helpline staff has forward the photos and videos to the officers concerned for rectification, says BESCOM officials.

BESCOM helpline received the WhatsApp complaints with photographs, same will be send to districts BESCOM officials to resolve. Due to this, more efficiency from ground level workers can be expected. Once helpline send the photos and videos related to power issues, BESCOM staff will go to the location and rectify the issue, said S.R. Nagaraj, General Manager, Consumer Relations, BESCOM.

To coordinate and oversee the WhatsApp complaints, nodal officers have been appointed to each districts. The helpline send the WhatsApp complaint details to the districts nodal officers for speedy disposal.
BESCOM has provided 11 WhatsApp numbers to the consumers. Due to heavy work load for existing helpline 1912 number, the BESCOM has released the WhatsApp numbers to 8 districts.

Consumers service executives at Helpline centers will receive WhatsApp messages and they will coordinate with concerned BESCOM centers to resolve the power-related quarries on priority basis. This facility would help the consumers to get quick and hassle-free solutions for power-related issues, said BESCOM release.
