25 years of Quality Council of India- Kanti Sweets wins Platinum Award

Bengaluru, Sept. 12: The most coveted award in Quality is given by India’s top autonomous body- National Board for Quality Promotion (NBQP), Quality Council of India under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industries.

Kanti Sweets Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru, won this prestigious award in the Platinum Category of 14th edition of QCI – D.L Shah Quality Award 2021. Mrs Shikha Sharma, Director, received the award on behalf of the Kanti Sweets team in the presence of Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Amitab Kant (Sherpa to G20, Former CEO, NITI Aayog), Anurag Jain (Secretary, Dept. for promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, GoI), Anil Agarwal (Additional Secretary, DPIIT, GoI), Parameswaran Iyer (CEO, NITI Aayog), Adil Zainulbhai (Chairperson, QCI), Dr. Ravi P. Singh (Secretary General, QCI), Hari K. Taneja (Trustee, DL Shah) & Dr. Rene Van Berkel (UNIDO Representative and Head, Regional Office in India).

QCI – D.L Shah Quality Awards are given to the outstanding projects of the establishments within India who have shown continuous improvement on three aspects, namely:
• Operations & processes
• Customers/stakeholders satisfaction
• Products and/or services.
There are three categories of the awards – Silver, Gold & Platinum.

Kanti Sweets, established in 1957, has grown steadily and has been a brand synonymous with high quality traditional sweets & savories. Originally Bangalore- based, they have recently expanded to Mysore and Mandya.


Kanti Sweets strives to keep up with the ever increasing quality standards.
• Their project, which showed inclusion of all the UN’s SDG and Diversity in operations, won the Platinum award at the 14thCycle of QCI – DL Shah Quality Awards.

This prestigious event was held on account of the 25th year of QCI (Quality Council of India) and was inaugurated by Piyush Goyal. Goyal rightfully said “….there is no better festival, than the festival celebrating Quality.”
Since 1957, Kanti Sweets Pvt Ltd (KSPL) is focused on manufacturing and retailing of sweets, savories and bakery products. With a paradigm shift in its operational folds to create a sustainable business investment model, this heritage brand has ventured into food testing for Quality Assurance, consultancy/mentoring for established companies, startups, food entrepreneurs and innovations in specialized product line, food fortifications to deliver customized food experiences.

Their project, “Manifestation of Inclusion and Diversity in the manufacturing of Sweets and Savories” talked about how the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals are incorporated in Kanti Sweets Pvt Ltd’s operations. Each goal was elaborated upon, with evidence of its inclusion in KSPL. They further elaborated on how they have diversified their processes and operations based on the diverse needs/varieties/demands from their customer base. Diversity in product lines, employees, operations, etc was shown. Through their project, Kanti Sweets Pvt Ltd showed their efforts in reducing their carbon footprint and preserving Mother Earth. Their project was selected after a thorough scrutiny involving document assessment, project presentation and site verification by QCI’s assessor.

In the 13th QCI-DL Shah Quality Awards 2020, Kanti Sweets Pvt. Ltd won the Gold Award for the project “Adoption of Quality Control Techniques and Sustainable Development in Methodology of preparation of Traditional Sweets and Savories”. Now for the second consecutive year, they have won the Platinum award.
