CM speaks at exhibition of Women Self-Help Group products
Belagavi, Dec.23: Craftsmanship is a god’s gift to Indian women and no women in other countries are gifted with this art.
From next year, permanent exhibitions and marketing facilities will be provided at five places in the State. Besides, an online marketing facility will also be made. Women capacity must emerge as a big economic power, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking after inaugurating the exhibition and marketing of rural SHG products organised by Departments of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood here on Thursday, he said the government has implemented ‘Stree Samarthya’ scheme and earmarked Rs 1,000 crore in the state budget for the scheme which has benefitted five lakh women of 33,000 SHGs. This scheme will create a big revolution in the country. Permanent exhibition and marketing facilities will be provided at 5 places in the State for the products of SHGs.
He said through this scheme, women are striving for the development of the nation. This scheme needs to be evaluated as the service of women is extraordinary as well as in home and outside. Nobody cares for the hard work of women. Those who work at home must also be respected and it must be evaluated. Their work must fetch income for them. The women in rural areas work just like men but they are given meagre payment. Women belonging to the poor and dalits are facing scarcity of food. Those who don’t have their own land work in the homes of others and in fields. “A special scheme will be announced for the upliftment of women in the next budget”.
Higher Education and Skill Development Minister Dr.C.N.Ashwath Narayana, Water Resources Minister and District-in-Charge Govind Karjol, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) ISN Prasad and others were present.
