Universal card to get entry into public premises

The civic body Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is mulling over implementing Universal Card to ensure that only “totally vaccinated” people enter into the public premises without any hassles.

In the wake of increasing Omicron cases, the BBMP has clamped prohibition for people, who have not been jabbed twice, into the public places like malls, pubs, temples, churches, mosques and theatres.

There has been widespread concern from the authorities of malls, theatres, pubs and prayers halls as it has become a herculean task for them to ensure that each and every person who enters carry the certificate.

More often than not it is observed a long serpentine queue at all the malls and theatres as majority of the people either do not carry vaccination certificate or try to dig out from their phone at the entrance of the crowded public premise. In such cases, many sneak into the public places without even flashing their fully vaccinated certificate.

On the lines of Maharashtra Universal cards will be issued and a proposal in this regard has been sent to the state government.
