Bengaluru, May 25: Two contract labourers succumbed to death and one seriously injured while carrying a re-conducting of 11KV cables of agriculture feeder of F5 Heerekattiganahalli in Muthukadahalli of Chintamani rural BESCOM division on Wednesday evening.
Fatal and non fatal departmental accident occurred in Muthukadahalli at 5.45 PM. Deceased were identified as Sanjeev (22) and Siddappa (19), both were native of Haveri. Parvez (22) from Bihar was seriously injured and shifted to R.L. Jalappa hospital in Kolar.
Accident occurred while three workers have stringing 11 KV cable line by replacing the old one. However the 66 KV line of KPTCL passing over BESCOM line. Near arching zone the cable has accidently came in contact to 66 KV line and resulted in fatal accident, says BESCOM senior officials.
The BESCOM had entrusted the contract to M/s Raja Electricals of Tumkur. The incident occurred due to non compliance of safety measures and proper supervision of M/s Raja Electricals, said BESCOM officials and asserted that there is no lapse on part of BESCOM.
Superintending Engineer of Kolar, Executive Engineer of Chintamani and Assistant Executive Engineer from Chinthamani Rural Division from BESCOM have visited the spot and Chinthamani rural police are investigating the case.
How accident took place: BESCOM has entrusted the contract for re-conducting 11 KV agriculture feeder cable to the M/s Raja Electricals of Tumkur after availing line clearance from Chinthamani Division of BESCOM. The incident has occurred near Muthukadahalli while replacing the cable. There was 66 KV cable of KPTCL passing over the BESCOM agri-feeder line. However while stringing the 11KV cable, it has came to contact with the 66 KV cable and led to the fatal incident, said senior officers of BESCOM.
The mortal remains of 2 deceased have been shifted to Chinthamani Government Hospital and the same has been communicated to deceased family members. The bodies will be handed over to respective families after autopsy, said BESCOM officials.
