Blood donation camp organised to mark birthday of school co-founder and chairman

60 units of blood collected

Bangalore, Nov. 12: Usually, parents stand in the middle of the ground or near the periphery of the school waiting for their wards to come waving at them. But on November 5 parents could walk-in at will to the class room as it was a special day – BLOOD DONATION CAMP!

As soon as the parents entered the school premise, they headed straight to a designated class room and registered themselves like they are getting enrolled to the school. Some parents accompanied their children while some came alone.

On the account of Sri Chaitanya Techno School Co-Founder, Chairman Jhansi Lakshmi Bai birthday, the school management made the birthday celebration meaningful by organising a blood donation camp to spread the importance of the blood in saving the lives and also the aim and advantages of blood donation. The blood donation camp was organised in association with Lions Club Ramamurthy Nagar branch of Sri Chaitanya Techno School.

The school got overwhelming response as around 100 parents enrolled to the noble cause of donating their blood. A team of enthusiastic teachers helped parents with the registration process, gave them the tokens to be seated to wait for their turn and made them feel comfortable.

As many as 60 units of blood was collected on November 5 and the donors walked away with the certificate acknowledging their noble deed. It was mission accomplished and they wore a big smile along with the certificate.

After checking the haemoglobin levels and weight of the donors, few were not allowed to donate blood as they were underweighting or their haemoglobin was low.

Earlier, parents were notified and around 100 parents had come down for the noble cause. A team of enthusiastic teachers helped parents with the registration process, gave them the tokens to be seated in line and wait for their turn and made them feel comfortable.

Blood donation camp was conducted by a team of experts arranged by Lions club at Sri Chaitanya School premises.

Speaking to this correspondent principal of the school Mrs. Annapoorna T said that donating blood is a noble cause. One donor can help at least four patients. There was an acute shortage of blood as blood donation camps had come to a grinding halt during the Covid times. Due to this many patients suffered for want of blood and platelets.

Organising blood donation camps not only helps the needy but also the donors as the fresh blood develops and recoups within three months, she said. She further added that she was overwhelmed with the massive response that the school witnessed on the occasion of birthday of Sri Chaitanya Techno School Co-Founder, Chairman Jhansi Lakshmi Bai.
