Police and BBMP stress on following guidelines

In an attempt to contain the spread of Covid-19 variant in the city, BBMP commissioner Gourav Gupta directed the officials to comply with the guidelines issued by the state government and take up joint operations with the police personnel, wherever necessary.
Addressing a virtual joint meeting both BBMP commissioner Mr. Gupta and police commissioner Kamal Pant directed their respective staff to keep a strict vigil in ensuring the following of the guidelines.
Mr. Gupta stated that on an average the city is witnessing 150-200 covid-19 cases every day. In the last three days, the number has shot up to 250. Hence it is imperative for both the civic agencies to work together to contain the growing numbers.
As directed by the state government restaurants, pubs, clubs both BBMP and Police must ensure that a maximum of 50 per cent capacity should be allowed. It is mandatory for hospitality staff not only to have double jabbed but also to have RT-PCR negative certificate. Customers should be allowed only if they possess fully vaccinated certificate with them, said Mr. Gupta.


Police and BBMP staff must ensure that covid appropriate behavior is complied with and no revelry should be allowed in open places or on the street. Public should be made aware of the guidelines through public announcement system, he emphasized.
Members of Residents’ Welfare Association, authorities of PGs must be taken into confidence and to educate their community. It is necessary to have a special vigilance at market areas, he stressed.
Wishing a happy new year to citizens, BBMP Administrator Rakesh Singh said, “We have to have a balanced approach towards enforcement. The situation is of great concern.”
During the meeting Mr. Pant said that, the night curfew must be enforced strictly and necessary documents like travel tickets and Identity Cards must be checked for those who travel after 10 pm. Police must ensure unnecessary gatherings and congregations at public places, he said.
