Bengaluru, Feb. 27: Scholarship funds amounting to Rs 5.53 crore to 4,067 students from the Brahmin and Arya Vysya Samaj has been disbursed through direct cash transfer to their accounts on Tuesday, said Revenue minister Krishna Byre Gowda.
More than 4,000 students from both communities who enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate, and professional courses, have already received their scholarship disbursements directly into their bank accounts through the direct benefit transfer system. Minister Gowda encouraged students to take advantage of this opportunity to build a better future and expressed his hope for enlightenment within society.
Brahmin Development Board Scholarship Details:
For the fiscal year 2023-24, the Karnataka Brahmin Development Board provided scholarships to 2,710 students through direct benefit transfer.
Rs 15,000 was granted to 758 Brahmin students pursuing undergraduate (PUC) studies, totaling Rs 1.13 crores.
Additionally, 1,952 vocational course students received 2/3rd of their total fees as scholarships, amounting to Rs 2.65 crores, contributing to the overall Rs 3.78 crores disbursed by the corporation.
Arya Vysya Community Development Corporation Scholarship Details:
For the fiscal year 2023-24, the Karnataka Arya Vysya Community Development Corporation awarded scholarships to 1,357 students through direct benefit transfer.
Professional degree and postgraduate degree students were eligible for a maximum of Rs 1.20 lakh each.
Graduate and undergraduate students could receive up to a maximum of Rs 30,000 each. Overall, Rs 1.75 crores were disbursed to support 1,357 students this year. The scholarship funds were credited directly to student accounts through direct benefit transfer.
During the scholarship disbursement event, Mrs. Poornima PV, the Managing Director of Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board, and Mrs. Deepashree K, the Managing Director of Karnataka Arya Vysya Community Development Corporation, were present.
