BENGALURU EXPRESS

Truth Triumphs

Its better late than never

Zonal Task Forces headed by ministers constituted for Bengaluru

Bengaluru, May 22: Better late than never seems to be the approach of government towards the city.
Task forces must have been constituted when the IMD gave rain alert. Especially, revenue department, BBMP, BWSSB and Fire force department should have been alerted to attend to emergencies. The government must shed the attitude of bolting tje stables after horses fled.

Bengaluru is the revenue spinner for the government and it generates nearly 50 per cent of the total revenue earned by the government from the entire state. Still Bengaluru is forgotten.
The city in-charge is wrested with the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai who is invariably busy.

To add to this, Bommai should be on his toes when the high command beckons! Further, he has handful of portfolios to give his time!

However, Bommai has constituted the Task Forces for each of the 8 BBMP Zones in Bengaluru headed by the ministers to oversee rescue and relief works during flooding and other emergencies. The Task Forces would have local MLAs, MPs and BBMP officials as its members.

But the question is will these ministers deliver? Majority of the ministers are busy in their respective portfolios.

Chief minister must hold review meetings with the task force and the task force should be given additional responsibilities like attending to potholes, drains, preventing encroachment of drains and lakes too.

The details of the Zonal Task Forces are as given below.

  • R Ashok-South Zone.
  • Ashwathnarayan-East Zone.
  • V Somanna- West Zone.
  • ST Somashekar-RR Nagar Zone.
  • Byrathi Basavaraj-Mahadevapura Zone
  • Gopalaiah-Bommanahalli Zone.
  • Muniratna- Yelahanka and Dasarahalli Zone
