Govt. issues BBMP ward delimitation, invites objections

Bengaluru, June 23: After dillydallying, the state government has finally issued a draft notification on BBMP ward delimitation paving way for the BBMP polls after almost two years of end of the previous council.

The draft notification has increased the number of wards from 198 to 243 without adding any new areas. However, existing ward boundaries have been altered to cut 243 wards.

Modi Nagar, Deenadayal ward, Chanakya, Vijayanagara Krishnadevaraya ward, Veera Sindhoora Lakshmana ward are some of the interesting new wards added.

Individuals, institutions, who have any objections / suggestions to the said proposal are hereby required to submit the same with reasons
therefor, to the Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Urban Development Department, Room No: 436, 4th floor, Vikasa Soudha, Bengaluru-
560 001, within Fifteen days from the date of publication of the notification in the special gazette.

The objections / suggestions received
after the prescribed period will not be considered, the draft notification said.

The government had constituted a committee under the chairmanship of the BBMP Chief Commissioner for Delimitation of wards.
The Ward Delimitation Committee had submitted its report to the government on June 9.

Subsequently, the state government has accepted the report submitted by the Ward Delimitation Committee and exercising the powers conferred under Section
7 of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Act, 2020, and based on 2011 population census.

Institutions, who have any objections / suggestions to the said proposal are hereby required to submit the same with reasons
therefor, to the Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Urban Development Department, Room No: 436, 4th floor, Vikasa Soudha, Bengaluru-
560 001, within 15 (Fifteen) days from the date of publication of this Notification in the Special Gazette, The objections / suggestions received
after the prescribed period will not be considered.
