“Empowerment for Women’s Entrepreneurship: ‘Swavalambhane’ Initiative Gains Momentum

Bommanahalli, Oct. 12: ‘Swavalambhane,’ aimed at inspiring rural women’s entrepreneurship, was launched on Thursday.

The inauguration of this initiative took place in a two-day workshop at IIMB, Bannergatta Road, with the support of the National Rural Livelihood Mission, the Karnataka State Rural Livelihood Promotion Society, and IIMB ‘Swavalambhane’ invited applications from eligible groups to provide support for women’s entrepreneurship. Approximately 4,000 applications were accepted, with 150 groups being selected. These groups will receive financial assistance, interest-free loans, and technical and managerial support from IIMB to run their businesses,” said Charanjit Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development.

In the workshop held in the kitchen of a farmhouse, more than a thousand women from the rural parts of Karnataka participated. Discussions focused on various aspects of rural entrepreneurship, improving the lives of rural women, expanding the scope of women’s entrepreneurship, eligibility for small loans, branding and market importance, and understanding the law,” said Dr. Srivardhini Jha, Professor, IIMB Entrepreneurship Division.

Swati Sharma, Deputy Director, Ministry of Rural Development, Dr. Ragapriya, Director of the National Livelihood Mission, K. Anupama, Chief Operation Officer of Karnataka Skill Development Corporation, and Charanjit Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, were present at the inauguration.
Few of the beneficiaries of the ‘Swavalambhane’ initiative were presented with cheques by Dr. Ragapriya, K. Anupama, Charanjit Singh, and Swati Sharma.
