Bengaluru, May 20: India-born Canadian MP Chandrakanth Chandra Arya won laurels and made Kannadigas proud after he took oath and addressed the Parliament in his mother tongue of Kannada, said youth Congress leader MS Raksha Ramaiah.
Arya represents the Nepean constituency, a federal electoral district in Canada’s Ontario.
Arya hailed from Dwaralu village in Shira taluk in Tumakur district. He announced the names of noted poet Kuvempu and Kannada thespian Dr. Rajkumar is and is memorable. Kannada is supreme in Karnataka, tweeted Raksha Ramaiah.
The fragrance of Kannada had spread from Cauvery to Godavari. Now, Chandra Arya has taken it to a new heights and it has spread from Dwaralu to Canada.
It reminds us of former chief minister late JH Patel who spoke for the first time in Kannada in parliament, making Kannadigas proud.
Karnataka’s contribution to the parliament is immense. Krantiyogi Basavanna’s chintakara chavadi became the inspiration for parliamentary democratic system. Now, the Chandra Arya from the land of Basavanna (Karnataka) entering Canadian parliament has made us super proud. This is the day to be written in golden words, emphasised Raksha Ramaiah.
