Actress Poonam Pandey in trouble for faking her own death

Bengaluru, Feb. 4: Actress and model Poonam Pandey’s efforts and ways to create awareness have drawn criticism for her ways to reach out.

A day after Poonam Pandey’s death going viral she surfaces and says it was her way to create awareness on cervical cancer.

“I am alive. I didn’t die of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives due to cervical cancer.”

“I am sorry caused this tear and I am sorry to those I have hurt. My intention: to shock everyone into the conversation that we are not talking enough about – cervical cancer,” she said in another post.

However, the model is being heavily criticised by social media users for “faking her death” to spread awareness about the disease.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra legislator Satyajeet Tambe said a case be registered to set an example of her and bring deterrence among others from doing such stunts.

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has issued a statement demanding an FIR against her.

The AICWA said that Pandey’s act has hurt sentiments of all Indians who paid tribute to her. ‘Strict action against them is necessary so that such types of fake news will not be circulated by anyone,’ the body said.

AICWA said that ‘using the guise of cervical cancer for self-promotion is not acceptable’.
