Police resort to lathi charge
Bellari, Jan 22: A folklore singer who actually shot to fame in South India with Ra Ra Rakkamma, of Vikrant Rona starring Sudeep, Mangli’s car has been allegedly damaged by a few unidentified miscreants by pelting stone at the Municipal College ground when she was leaving the Ballari Utsav on Saturday after her programme.
According to police sources she had come to take part in a musical event at the Ballari Utsava on Saturday evening.
Mangli is known for singing in folk style and has her own fan following. Some of her fans barged into the green room behind the stage at Bellary to take a glimpse of her and autograph.
When police refused to allow the crowd they tried to barge in. When the police realised that the situation was going out of hand, they resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse the crowd. During this time, some miscreants pelted stoned at her car, leaving the front windshield damaged.
Satyavathi Rathod, colloquially and popularly known as Mangli, is an Indian playback singer, television presenter and actress.
