Will Not Rest Until Winning Taluk and Zilla Panchayat Elections, says MP Basavaraj Bommai

Haveri (Byadgi), June 21: Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai declared that he will not rest until the BJP wins the upcoming Taluk Panchayat (T.P.) and Zilla Panchayat (Z.P.) elections by organizing the party from the grassroots level.

He was speaking at a voter appreciation and felicitation ceremony held at the Siddeshwara Kalyan Mantap in the town on Thursday.

Bommai slammed the state government for the tardy implementation of the guarantee scheme as it has worsened the state’s financial condition. This has left he government trapped in debt and halted development projects. The Congress government is buried under a debt of ₹1.05 lakh crore, making state development impossible and depriving the citizens of justice. Funds were not available even for the repair of roads and irrigation projects, pushing development back by ten years and forcing people to beg. A debate is emerging on whether such a government is needed. Public expectations have changed, and if there is a conflict between the people and the government, the people will ultimately win.

Initiating River Linking
Former MLA Virupakshappa Bellary spoke at the event, urging the initiation of the long-pending project to link the Bedthi river in Uttara Kannada district with the Varada river in Haveri district. This project would irrigate lakhs of hectares and significantly improve the economic standard of the farming community in the district. He also demanded that the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi be brought to this project to kickstart it. Additionally, he called for allowing the National Insurance Company to operate as the Lions Insurance Company had deceived the farmers of the district by not providing compensation.
