Vaccine on wheels to reach the unreached

In an unique programme, the BBMP has partnered with Vaccine on Wheels for 9 COVID-19 Vaccination vans to ensure 100% vaccination. As part of a CSR program by 3M India, GE, Vaccine On Wheels & United Way Bengaluru have come together to vaccinate marginalized population within four BBMP zones namely, Dasarahalli, East, Mahadevapura and Bommanahalli, said BBMP chief commissioner Gourav Gupta. Today 6 such vaccination vans will be flagged off by the commissioner.This is an effort to augment BBMP efforts in vaccinating hard to reach population in these four zones.As part of the implementation strategy, Vaccine on Wheels will deploy six vaccination vans, the mentioned zones.

A detailed program implementation strategy has been worked out with the Health Officers and the Medical Officers in charge of the Urban Primary Health centres (UPHC) in these four zones, he added. United Way of Bengaluru will be undertaking community mobilisation activity as per the guidance of the medical officer incharge of the respective UPHC with the help of 2 mobilisers in each vaccination van. These mobilisers will visit door to door to motivate eligible persons inform about the mobile vaccination vans. These mobilisers will act as added hands to existing front line workers namely ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers. The vans will have a qualified doctor equipped with an AEFI management kit and 2 vaccinators.Daily vaccination coverage details by these 6 vans will be shared with BBMP. Through these ination vans, it is estimated to vaccinate about 50000 eligible unvaccinated persons till March 2022.
