Three-day event ‘Semicon India’ Conclave kicks off

Government to provide additional land for ESDM: Dr.C.N.Ashwath Narayan

Bengaluru, April 29: Dr.C.N.Ashwath Narayan, Minister for Electronics, IT/BT, and S&T, said on Friday, that the government is ready to provide additional land in case semiconductor enterprises need to set up their units.

Speaking in the first ‘Semicon India’ conclave, a 3-day event, organised in a private hotel, he said, the government is backing the growth of semiconductor industries with a forward looking policy.

Saying, the government is promoting the semiconductor sector including electronics along the lines of the union government, he added, that 40% of the ESDM (electronics system design and manufacturing) companies of the country are housed in the city of Bengaluru.

There are huge investment opportunities and employment generation potential in the semiconductor sector. This will be leveraged for the development, Minister opined.

The reforms in the education system as also the integration of academia and industry will facilitate providing the required human resource for the industry, Narayan said.

Rajeev Chandrashekhar, Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT was present.
