Bengaluru, June 26: “This is Congress government, a democratic administration under the leadership of chief minister Siddaramaiah. Here, anyone can raise their voice, express demands. This is not a Narendra Modi-style authoritarian regime,” said Dr. Sharanaprakash Patil, minister for medical education, skill development, entrepreneurship, livelihood and in-charge minister for Raichur district.
The minister was speaking to the media after an interaction with party workers at the KPCC office here on Wednesday.
“Some MLAs have questioned the chief minister, deputy chief ministers and ministers on certain issues. They have demanded grants for their constituencies. What’s wrong in that?” the minister asked.

“Is it wrong to express one’s concerns before the head of the household? This is what a good and vibrant democracy looks like. It is not dissatisfaction or anger — it is about presenting one’s demands. Each person has their own way of expressing concerns,” he remarked.
“There is no shortage of funds in our government. The BJP keeps crying foul without reason. If there really was no money, would we have been able to carry out so much development work? Come and see for yourself — development funds have been allocated to our regions,” he clarified.
“Elected representatives are eager to work more. Especially those elected for the first time, they have the desire to achieve more — I too felt the same way when I first became an MLA. The CM and DCM are taking note of the legislators’ demands,” Dr. Patil assured.

Not an aspirant for the KPCC President post
“I am not an aspirant for the KPCC president’s position. No discussion has taken place on this matter so far. If such a decision has to be made, it is up to the party high command to choose who should lead. I will fulfil whatever responsibility the party gives me. I have not asked for the KPCC president post,” clarified Dr. Patil.
