Minister holds interaction with party workers at KPCC ಆಫೀಸ್

Bengaluru, June 26: In a determined move to enhance healthcare infrastructure across the state, Dr. Sharanaprakash Patil, minister for medical education, skill development, entrepreneurship, livelihood, and in-charge minister for Raichur district, announced that the state government will establish super specialty hospitals, trauma centres, cancer hospitals and cardiac care hospitals in every district within the next three years.
Speaking to reporters after an interaction with party workers at the KPCC office here on Wednesday, the minister said “Our government, under the leadership of chief minister Siddaramaiah is committed to transforming Karnataka into a healthy state. Accordingly, the department of medical education has laid out a comprehensive three-year development roadmap.”
He further added the aim was to ensure that all citizens have easy and affordable access to quality medical treatment in every district. Special attention will be given to public health and well-being.
Jayadeva branches in Hubballi and Belagavi
Dr. Patil also informed that branches of the Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences will be set up in Hubballi and Belagavi regions, and these units will be inaugurated soon.
No Seat Blocking
There is 100% transparency in the Medical Education Department. There is no seat blocking in our system. All medical seats are allotted purely on merit through the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) he clarified in response to a question. The minister added that a proposal has been submitted to the Centre to increase 800 under-graduate & 600 post-graduate medical seats in the state.
Multiple Departmental Initiatives
Dr. Patil said the department has received feedback and suggestions from party workers on where hospital upgrades are needed. Several new initiatives have been implemented and reform measures are already underway in the medical education department.
Work has already begun to establish super specialty hospitals across the state, including in Kalaburagi and Dharwad.
A new Jayadeva hospital has been inaugurated in Kalaburagi. Another unit already exists in Mysuru, and next year, a 400-bed Jayadeva hospital will be inaugurated in Hubballi. The work is currently in progress, he said.
Youth Nidhi Enrolment
“About 2.86 lakh youth have registered under the Yuva Nidhi scheme. We are bringing in certain enhancements to ensure smoother and more effective implementation of the scheme,” Dr. Sharanaprakash Patil added.
