Strict action to make the state drug-free: Chief Secretary Dr. Shalini Rajneesh

All police stations and related departments in the state should be trained on the use of the Map-Drugs app, and targets should be set for drug control for each district, said Chief Secretary to the Government Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, to make the state a drug-free state.

Presiding over the 6th State-Level Narco Coordination Committee meeting held at the Vidhana Soudha auditorium recently, she said.

The website should be updated so that information related to drug prevention is also available in Kannada. She instructed other districts to follow the steps being followed in Belagavi district as a model. She directed that inspections at airports should be intensified to prevent smuggling of drugs, that customs officers be invited to the committee and that the Honorable Chief Minister should take action towards building a ‘drug-free state’ as per the directions of the Deputy Chief Ministers.

Unregistered drug companies should be identified and action should be taken. Action should be taken to mandatorily install a signboard saying “Sale prohibited without doctor’s permission” in front of all drug shops. Improved Operating Procedures (SOP) should be formulated for the management of addiction-free centers and information should be given to the public. She instructed the District Collector to visit one center every month and submit a report.

Students should be tested and protected using drug testing kits in hostels. Action should be taken against positive cases. Sub-committees should be formed at the district level on the ANTF model. The Chief Secretary gave clear instructions that the monitoring work should be strengthened to control the sale of drugs on the red list.

DGP of the Cyber Command Unit, Narcotics and Organized Crime Division, Pronab Mohanty, Principal Secretary to the Government, Mohammad Mohsin, Superintendent of Police Savita S and others were present.
