We can understand why natural disasters occur. What we don’t is why God allows them! Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people? It is distressing that natural disasters are often termed – acts of God. No credit to Him for years of peaceful existence! I am often frustrated with God?
Steadily rising death tolls and with stories of hospitals breaking down due to COVID, hurricanes wiping out hundreds of lives, a single child dies from cancer world felt abandoned! Where was God during Pandemic? Suffering is a punishment for sins! 6 million and more Pandemic Deaths! Was God unwilling or unable to prevent deaths? Why? Pandemic has devastated the world, deprived millions of their Lives and cruelly snatched away loved ones before their time.
After the pandemic we are increasingly anxious about health, safety and finances. These fears are often tied to one another. We are wired to sense and react to threat. Are we losing faith? Given all our anxieties about tomorrow, even our best laid plans can change. Hitler thought he would rule the world – he didn’t and ended up committing suicide.
Prediction- Religion would fade from relevancy as the world modernizes. But Atheists aren’t inheriting the Earth just yet.
Religion
• Religion seems to give meaning to suffering!
• Religion’s offers security in an uncertain world.
• Religion prospers when people are desperate and ignorant.
• Secured life diminishes religious belief.
• Religions Thrive on engineered obedience.
God made us like him. Religions have made him look like us – a souped-up version of ourselves. The notions of good and bad are meaningless in a Godless world. The moral parameters remain relevant to keep human society in check. If God did not exist, it would be better to invent Him. The existence of God is based on a human need for him.
Many of us are Angry at the God Who Isn’t there when we need him! There are more atheists today than ever before.
With Knowledge People of faith might stop trusting abstract intuitions. Sun doesn’t rise in east- Earth spins, but we never experience the spin.
Exceptional claims demand exceptional evidence. Anyone can count the seeds in an apple. Only God can count all the apples in one seed! Is this a credible evidence? Despite our scientific and technological brilliance, our understanding of God is often remarkably undeveloped or even primitive. I believe in God, but I am frustrated with Him!
Can faith and science go together? Knowledge here is tenuous and uncertain. The discovery of laws and mathematical relationships that described the workings of the universe with breath-taking accuracy and The Theory of Intelligent Design appears to have the potential to be a meeting point for the proponents of science and religion. Pull of gravity is real! Heavenly pull is belief!
For Sigmund Freud the very idea of “Superman” in the sky was patently infantile.

The race from discovering a deadly virus to administering the first batch of vaccines in less than a year is a testament to major triumph for modern medicine and human brilliance and resilience. COVID was deadly. Temples, mosques and churches –were all under lockdown! The Gods wore the masks!
