Contractor’s Association serving as Government’s Commission Selection Center: Basavaraj BommaiBommai
Bengaluru, Oct. 14: Both the State Government and the contractors are jointly looting and the Contractor’s Association has become the State Government’s commission Collection Center. The recovery of illegal heist must be probed by ED and CBI, said former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He told reporters here on Saturday that there had been corruption in everything including transfer since the new Congress government came to power. This is the most corrupt government that Karnataka has seen. Corruption was seen in a village till Vidhana Soudha, and it had been going on openly. It was for the first time that a large chunk of money had been recovered from the house of a close relative of a contractor soon after the release of the pending bill money to the contractors. This has proved beyond doubt that the government receiving a 10 percent commission. More commission money would come out if the raids were conducted on some more contractors.
Collection Center
The BJP leader said the Contractor’s Association made baseless allegations against the previous government and now the same association was working as the government’s commission collection center. The person on whom the IT raids happened was made to say that he did not do contractor work when similar charges were levelled against him. Contractors and the government were jointly looting the state. The recent recovery of money must be probed by the ED under the Money Laundering Act and Prevention of Corruption Act by the CBI.
Refer to commission
The former CM reminded people how his successor and incumbent Chief Minister Siddaramaiah replied when reporters asked him about the commission. Replying to a question on the charges of commission, and his behavior while 40 percent commission charges were made against the previous BJP government. If the CM has no role in this, then he must form the commission led by Justice Nagmohan Das or refer to the Lokayuktha. The State Congress leaders who were acting like the ATM for the Assembly polls in five states have no moral right to talk about corruption. The Contractor’s Association President Kempanna met the CM Siddaramaiah alleging that selective payment had been made. This was the evidence of corruption. The bills of contractors who have paid commission have been released. The CM promised to set right this by saying that he has admitted to prevailing corruption in the state.
Negative thinking
Responding to a question about Prof Bhagavan’s statement about the Vokkaliga community, Bommai said, “People who speak against any community are low-minded, let them praise whoever they want.” However, it is not right to pretend to be intellectual and speak disparagingly against a community. They are talking like this because the government is supporting them”.
