Truth Triumphs

Natural stupidity and Artificial intelligence!

Bengaluru, May 28: I got old too soon and wise too late! I don’t fear artificial intelligence. I fear my natural stupidity.
Natural stupidity is a fascinating phenomenon. Stupidity is lack of intelligence, understanding, reason, or wit, an inability to learn. It may be innate or acquired. The stupid are generally abundantly sure while the intelligent are full of doubts. Jellyfish has survived for 650 million years without brains! It gives hope to many of us. Natural stupidity is the universe’s way of keeping us humble. We all underestimate the number of stupid individuals in circulation. Stupidity is independent of any other characteristics including the IQ of that person.
The skill – confidence disconnect is when a person’s confidence outstrips his skill. We err, and to err is always human. The confidence-skill disconnect has been dubbed the Dunning-Kruger effect! Poor performers—and we are all poor performers at some things—fail to see the flaws in our thinking or the answers we lack. When we think we are at our best is sometimes when we are at our objective worst.
We are all prone to overestimating our abilities and make impulsive decisions! When we realize this the stupid mistakes seem, perhaps, a little less stupid and a little more human. Indeed, making mistakes is a part of being human. It’s through these mistakes that we learn and grow. They may seem “stupid” at first, but they often provide valuable lessons and insights that help us improve.
We are often Breathtakingly Stupid! Stupid mistakes may turn out to be epic blunders.
• The partition of India was the division of the British Indian Empire that led to the creation of India and Pakistan… This event is considered the largest mass migration in world history and was followed by riots in which lakhs of people died. India and Pakistan have fought three major wars.
• The emergency was a 21-month period from June 1975 to March 1977. Civil liberties were curtailed! Thousands were put behind bars. Heavy censorship was imposed!
• History is most unforgiving. As historical mistakes cannot be undone, they have complex cascading effect on a nation’s future. India’s clumsy handling of the Kashmir issue. It is a saga of naivety, blinkered vision and inept leadership. India erred by not insisting on unequivocal accession of the state to the Dominion of India! Nehru granted special status to it through Article 370 of the Constitution to please his friend Sheik Abdulla!
• Secondly, when on the verge of evicting all invaders and recapturing the complete state, India halted operations on 1 January 1949 and appealed to the Security Council. POK was created!
So, never underestimate the power of human stupidity! It may sound cynical but is a harsh truth and is thought-provoking and highlights the potential for illogical and irrational actions! Stupidity is a universal and a timeless phenomenon.
All of us have also been brought up with a set of weird superstitions and most of them simply defy logic, Only Indian superstitions will tell you that crow shit is actually good for you. Often it gets weirder than this!
-Poor black cats. They are blamed just for being black. if a black cat crosses your path, it’s a bad omen.

  • Number 13 is just considered unlucky.
  • If you keep shaking your legs- You lose your wealth
  • Number 3 is unlucky –
  • The left hand of the body is treated as inferior to the right hand. Right hand for giving Daan and receiving alms! Left hand for cleaning the excreta! The leg is ‘low’ as compared to Hands! Among cattle the poor buffalo is low caste as its’ Varna’ is black! Cow is a Brahmin among the cattle!
You may be Harvard or Oxford educated, may be an IAS or a legal luminary the caste spirit rules the mind-set! However high one’s education may be, he continues to remain change -proof when it comes to his opinion or behaviour with respect to superstitions and caste mind set. Stupid is an adjective used to describe someone who lacks intelligence, understanding, or reasoning abilities, foolishness, ignorance, or a lack of common sense. Stupidity manifests in various ways – making poor decisions, displaying irrational behaviour, or failing to comprehend basic concepts.
Even the smartest people are prone to stupidity! It turns out that our measure of intelligence – particularly IQ – has very little to do with the kind of irrational, illogical behaviours we often indulge in! Each of us underestimate how stupid we are! The dangerous combination of power and stupidity can disrupt the lives of countless people. People will be trapped in their own collective foolishness.
Next, I don’t fear Artificial intelligence!
