Rahul Gandhi’s speeches are hurting secularism: Bommai
New Delhi, July 4:
Former Chief Minister and Gadag-Haveri MP Basavaraj Bommai has strongly objected to the proposal by the chief minister of Tamil Nadu to establish an international airport in Hosur.
Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, he said no international airport must come up within 150 km radius of another international airport. Though, Hosur exists in Tamil Nadu but it was heavily relying on Bengaluru. Seeing the growth of Bengaluru, there was a need for another airport here. No matter another airport was established here the existing HAL airport could be used for domestic flights. This has been discussed by him in the capacity of the chief minister with the defence minister in the previous government Rajnath Singh. The government was ready if the HAL authorities give permission for the same.
He said the Bengaluru IT industry would not develop with the establishment of an international airport in Hosur as this industry has already grown. The people are very intelligent and Bengaluru had developed because of talent.
Asked about Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s statement on the Hindus, the former CM said Rahul didn’t know what to talk and what not. He would put others in quandary by his statements. The Congress leader’s intelligence should have improved after he toured the country. But he has been talking hurting the religious feelings of others. The Congress party must shed secularism if it wants to speak in parliament.
