Dakshina Kannada, Dec. 28: A man who sexually exploited a girl for years by luring her with drugs has been arrested on Monday in Surathkal of Dakshina Kannada district.
47-year-old Mohammad Shareef, a resident of Katippala near Surathkal is the arrested person.
According to police, the mother of the victim who gor suspicious about the exploitation had lodged a complaint with Surathkal police station.
The mother has alleged that the accused youth has been exploiting her daughter sexually after supplying drugs to her for the last four years. Based on the complaint, the cops have arrested the accused person.
The accused had made a phone call to the victim on Dec 22 and called her near Big Bazar close to Lalbahgh of the town and from there he had taken her to an undisclosed location and again sexually abused her, the complaint reads.
The sources close to family of the victim revealed that the matter has been informed to police earlier and there was no action initiated by the police department against the accused person.
It is learnt that, the accused had planned to fix the victim in the drug peddling case. The victims relatives have sought the help of police as well as activists to bring her out of this.
