Karnataka State Police Golden Nubilee Run on March 10

Bengaluru, March 5: Karnataka State Police on its Golden Jubilee Year is organizing a 5K and 10K run in association with the State Bank of India. The run has the tagline “Fitness for All” and is also to promote a Drug Free Karnataka. The event will have 2 different categories, a Timed 10K and 5K Run.

Registration for the event has already started and the run expects to attract more than 10,000 runners from across all age groups from Bengaluru, across Karnataka and across the country.

The run, scheduled to be held on Sunday, March 10th, 2024, will start and finish in front of the Vidhana Soudha – a landmark that every Bengalurean is proud of. The Timed 10K run will be flagged off at 6.30 am and the Awareness 5K run at 7.15 am.

The run route will be around the beautiful Cubbon Park. The run will also amplify the importance of Green Bengaluru and Awareness on Cyber Crime.  The run aims to encourage citizens to adapt to a healthy and fit life.  The famous Karnataka Police Band will be performing at the Start line and other locations en route to the run. Karnataka Police Mounted Coy Horses following the runners shall be an added attraction. The best of the runners from Karnataka State Police shall be taking part in the event.

The event logo, unveiling of the Race T-shirt and the Trophies were unveiled by Dr. Alok Mohan, IPS, Director General and Inspector General of Police & Head of Police Force – Karnataka State.

Unveiling the event logo and T-Shirt for the run, Dr. Alok Mohan, IPS, shared, “India needs to foster a culture of sports, fitness and health among the country’s young and old alike, and its initiatives like these that will go a long way in achieving this objective. Events like this give the community a fun approach to health and fitness.”

Dr. Alok Mohan further added, “Through this initiative, we also want to create awareness for a Greener Bengaluru and awareness on educating people regarding cyber crimes which is on a rise in Karnataka, especially Bengaluru.”

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Krishan Sharma, Chief General Manager, SBI, said, “We are happy to encourage and propagate good health, healthy living and be the torchbearers of sensible living within the city.”

The run will have an attractive total prize money of over 18+ Lakhs across 3 different categories each of 5K and 10K. While the first prize for timed 10K run is Rs. 1 lakh under each of 3 different categories (Police, SBI and Public) separately for men and women. For 5k, prize money is Rs.40,000 again under each of 3 different categories (Police, SBI and Public) separately for men and women. There is also a separate prize for the senior most participant in 10K and 5K both for men and women. Specially abled men and women who take part in 5K will be suitably recognised. 

Karnataka Police has also instituted a rolling trophy ‘DGP Karnataka Cup’ with a cash prize of Rs.50 thousand that will be given to the first finisher of the 10K Race in both male and female categories. Therefore, the fastest runner in both men and women’s category shall get a total prize money of Rs.1.5 lakh each.

Karnataka State Police Golden Jubilee Run will be an inclusive Run, with participation from senior citizens, specially abled enthusiasts, amateur and professional runners.

To commemorate the Golden Jubilee Run for Karnataka State Police, similar Runs are also being organized in all the districts and cities in the State. All citizens are requested to take part in the event and spread awareness of fitness for all, a drug free Karnataka, a green Bengaluru and awareness on Cyber crime.

Every participant for both the 5K & 10K run will get a T-Shirt, Finisher Medal and Refreshment.
