Bengaluru, June 20: Karnataka, a national leader in the renewable energy sector, continues to attract global attention for its sustainable energy initiatives. The state has laid out a clear vision and roadmap for a green energy future, said T.D. Rajegowda, MLA and Chairman of Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL).
Inaugurating the 5th edition of the India Green Energy Expo 2025 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre on Thursday, Rajegowda emphasized the state’s commitment to sustainability.
“Our Renewable Energy Policy 2022–27 sets a clear and comprehensive direction for Karnataka’s energy future. It integrates research, investment, and inclusive economic growth, and has already begun yielding results. The success of the recent Global Investors’ Meet, which attracted ₹4 lakh crore in renewable energy investments, is a testament to this policy,” he said.
He highlighted that KREDL is playing a pivotal role in driving Karnataka’s green energy mission. “Karnataka’s renewable energy policy promotes capacity building, research, and a robust green energy ecosystem. It has emerged as a model for other states,” Rajegowda added.
He credited the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Energy Minister K.J. George for Karnataka’s achievements in the sector. “In 2024–25, the state added 1331.48 MW of wind power capacity—the highest in the country—and was duly recognised with a national award,” he said.
Recalling a major milestone in Karnataka’s renewable journey, he said, “When Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar served as Energy Minister, the Pavagada Solar Park—then Asia’s largest—was developed. Today, the park’s expansion is underway, and we are confident that Karnataka will once again lead the nation.”
The 3-day India Green Energy Expo 2025 was inaugurated by Veereshananda Sri and Paramananda Sri of Ramakrishna Ashram. Other dignitaries present included Surendra Kumar K.R. Karnataka Renewable Energy Equipment Manufacturers Association, Ramesh Sivanna, Chairman, PEERRI, and Toshiro Mizutani, Director, General, JETRO, Bengaluru.
The expo will feature expert-led seminars on solar energy, grid modernization, and green technology adoption.
