Bengaluru, July 14: The state government is just a step away from holding much awaited elections to the urban local body – BBMP.

Shattering the myth and the strong belief that the delimitation will be dragged with multiple objections to delay the BBMP polls, the state government issued final notification increasing the wards from the 198 to 243.

The committee headed by the BBMP special commissioner (Revenue) Deepak RL has gone through nearly 3000 objections filed by members of public in the last 15 days. Majority of the objections came on change of ward name and change in border of the ward.

After incorporating a few valid objections final notification has been issued on delimitation. Delimitation has been done based on 2011 population.

The state government has considered suggestion to name one of the BBMP wards after Sandalwood famous actor late Punith Rajkumar. Ward number 55 has been renamed after Punith Rajkumar. Earlier, the ward was named as Cauverynagar. Further, ward number 77 was renamed as Modi Garden. After considering the objections the state government has issued notification by retaining the previous ward name – Devara Jeevana Halli (DJ Halli).

The state government is in the process of issuing category. Already, the state government has formed Bhaktavatsala committee to scientifically form reservation matrix.
