Haveri (Shiggaon), Oct. 28:
Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai appealed to the people to consider him as the candidate and
support and ensure the victory of Bharat Bommai, the BJP candidate in the Shiggaon by-election.
On Sunday, he campaigned for Bharat Bommai in several villages, including Hosuru, Dundasi, and Jakanakatti.
Bommai mentioned that over the last fifteen years, they all have witnessed how the development in this taluk has transformed. Development is not stagnant; it must continue steadily, which is why he is contesting the election. ” I had initially decided not to field my son in this election, but the high command insisted that I remain involved and offered a ticket to my son. They advised me to continue working here. I will never leave this taluk. Your love is invaluable. More development needs to be done in this constituency, and Bharat Bommai will continue the development works,” he stated, urging the people to ensure Bharat wins with a huge margin.
The MP said during floods, the previous BJP government provided double the crop compensation compared to what the central government had provided. The then government had disbursed around ₹7,000 crores in compensation across the state, benefiting farmers in Shiggaon as well. For those who lost their homes in the floods, as per the decision of the veteran leader Yediyurappa, he provided ₹5 lakh per house. The government had constructed around 18,000 houses in Shiggaon,.
