“We Will Ensure Social Justice Without Compromise, Taking Everyone Into Confidence: CM Siddaramaiah”

Bengaluru, Oct 29: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that the government is committed to implementing internal reservation without compromising on social justice, while also ensuring that all communities are taken into confidence.

He made these remarks while addressing prominent leaders, representatives, activists, and elected members from the Madiga community, who congratulated him on the cabinet’s decision to move forward with internal reservations.

“The Madiga community has been fighting for internal reservation for decades. The Supreme Court has now issued its judgment, and it is our responsibility to implement it. There are 101 sub-castes within the Scheduled Castes in Karnataka, and we aim to gain the trust of all. While it may not be possible to satisfy everyone, we will take decisions that bring justice to at least 90% of the communities. This is what our government will ensure,” the Chief Minister said.

Siddaramaiah mentioned that Telangana has already set up a commission on internal reservations, and he had recently discussed the matter with Telangana’s Chief Minister during a meeting in Mysuru. He also pointed out that Haryana’s cabinet has passed a resolution on the matter, though the orders are still pending.

He shared that the Karnataka cabinet had previously held informal discussions on internal reservations, and at the latest meeting, ministers such as H.C. Mahadevappa, Priyank Kharge, Timmapur, and Muniyappa unanimously supported the decision.

“There was no opposition, but the need for detailed data was raised. Hence, we have decided to establish a commission. The commission will study all reports and provide a detailed analysis with the necessary data. Until the commission submits its report, no new recruitment notifications will be issued,” Siddaramaiah explained.

He assured that the commission’s report is expected within the stipulated timeframe, and internal reservations will be implemented immediately after its submission.
Minister R.B. Thimmapur, who was present at the meeting, called it a “historic day” for the internal reservation movement, crediting the achievement to CM Siddaramaiah’s leadership.

L. Hanumanthayya praised Siddaramaiah by drawing a parallel with the legacy of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj and Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, saying, “Our Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is following in their footsteps, which is why this has become a reality
