Committee to be constituted to frame new AVGC policy: Dr.C.N.Ashwath Narayan

Bengaluru: En route to formulating a new policy on AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming & Comics), the government will constitute a committee soon, Dr.C.N.Ashwath Narayan, Minister for Electronics, IT/BT, and S&T, said on Thursday.

Speaking here at the ‘GAFX competition’ he said, animation and gaming courses have been included in the Diploma curriculum considering the growth of the AVGC sector. Likewise, the engineering curriculum also has been updated to suit the present-day industry demands, he added.

“The National Education Policy emphasises on imparting modern stream of knowledge such as AVGC. This would enable the youth of the state to make use of the economic opportunities”, he opined.

Saying, the state is seeing enormous growth in the fields of filmmaking, entertainment, and media, he added that animation & visual effects would enable to break the monotony in the field of education and assured that the forthcoming AVGC policy will supplement this.

E.V.Ramana Reddy, ACS, Department of Electronics, IT/BT and S&T, Meena Nagaraj, Director, Department of Electronics, IT/BT and S&T, Sanjeev Gupta, CEO, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), were among those who were present.
