Govt. agencies owe Rs. 230 cr to BESCOM
Will the BESCOM really snap power supply to these agencies
Bengaluru, Nov. 16: In the wake of BESCOM threatening to disconnect licences for defaulting electricity bills for three continuous months it has also cracked down on different government agencies.
Different government agencies like BBMP, BDA, Horticulture department, Town Municipality and Gramasabhas owe a whopping Rs. 230 crore for electricity consumption including street lights.

Executive engineers of Hebbal and Jalahalli has issued to these government agencies and directed them to pay the arrears within 7 days. Failing which the Bescom has threatened to disconnect the power supply to defaulting agencies.
As on September 30, BBMP, BDA and Horticulture departments owe Rs. 131.18 crore. This has beeen observed under sub-divisions such as Ganganagar, Kavalbyrasandra, Yalahanka, Sahakarnagar under Hebbal division.
BWSSB owes the maximum of Rs. 65.09 crore followed by BBMP of Rs. 54.53 crore.
Further, these government agencies coming under Jalahalli division owe Rs. 99.20 crore. Executive engineer of Jalahalli division has slapped nitices on November 16.
