Bengaluru, Nov. 3:
A coordination meeting of the Engineering Department of Bengaluru East City Corporation was held today under the leadership of Additional Commissioner (Development) Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar
During the meeting, the Additional Commissioner instructed officials to categorize civil works within the limits of the East City Corporation into three groups —
- Completed works,
- Works in progress, and
- Works to be undertaken —
and to prepare a detailed digital map using a color-coded system representing these categories.

The East City Corporation has (provisionally) demarcated 8 divisions, 24 sub-divisions, and 50 wards. The Additional Commissioner directed all Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, and Assistant Engineers to ensure that they possess complete data related to engineering works in their respective divisions, sub-divisions, and wards within one week.
He further instructed the officials to update the progress of road pothole repair works recorded on the BTP Astram, Road Pothole Grievance, and Sahaaya App platforms, and to upload details of completed works on the Astram App online.
The Commissioner, Additional Commissioners, and Chief Engineers will soon undertake daily visits to all wards within the City Corporation limits as per a fixed schedule. They will inspect local development works at the ward level and issue necessary instructions for resolving on-ground issues.

He also mentioned that under the newly formed Engineering Department — arterial roads, sub-arterial roads, major roads, lakes, and stormwater drains, among other key infrastructure components — will come under the purview of the Executive Engineers at the divisional level. To ensure complete understanding and coordination, a Workshop will be organized to brief all engineers on relevant technical and administrative matters.
At the same time, the Additional Commissioner directed officials to take strict action against unauthorized constructions within the corporation limits. As per the directive, each division must remove at least one unauthorized building per week — totaling eight demolitions across all eight divisions — in accordance with the prescribed rules and procedures.
The meeting also discussed the speed, quality, and coordination of developmental works. The Additional Commissioner emphasized the need for close coordination among officers to ensure effective execution of projects.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineers Lokesh and Krishnamurthy, along with all Executive Engineers and Assistant Executive Engineers from the respective divisions.
