BJP poll chanakya Shah to visit Karnataka

Bangalore, Dec. 29: In the wake of Karnataka’s possible assembly election by April-May, 2023 Union Home minister Amit Shah will be on a two-day visit from today.

Shah’s visit could not come at a better time when local’s perception is increasingly going against the party. BJP is also riven with internal issues here.

Known for his impeccable quality of turning the tide around using organisational capability and ability to weave a full-proof strategy, Shah’s Karnataka tour will set out BJP’s process to set things right in terms of organisational unity, electoral strategy and governance narrative. Like in Gujarat, Shah’s Karnataka strategy would be taking PM Narendra Modi’s popularity to the people.

Shah has been proving his mettle since 2014 as the main driver of BJP’s organisational and election machinery. Since then, he has won many battles for the party using his organisational acumen, electoral skills and PM Modi’s popularity. He is the one in the party to dare to visualize and script BJP’s growth in north-east, eastern and southern India which were never party stronghold. Shah even decided to go solo in Maharashtra and that too worked.

In the 224-seat Karnataka assembly, the BJP has 117 seats. Opposition Congress has 69 and JDS has 32 seats. Others and independents have the rest. Ahead of the 2023 general election, BJP would try to further improve its tally.

Sources in the saffron party said Shah’s tour is just the beginning of the process to set things in order for the party. Along with other party-heavyweights, Shah will conduct a series of tours in the run up to the election in the state. In the public meetings, Shah would primarily focus on spreading PM Modi’s work across the entire country and highlights the party’s work for Karnataka’s development during the current regime.
