Bengaluru, July 25:
The construction of the Multi-Level Car Parking facility at Gandhi Bazaar in Chickpet has been completed, and Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has directed officials to open it for public use.
During an inspection of various locations in the South Zone today, the Chief Commissioner stated that the Multi-Level Car Parking facility at Gandhi Bazaar, built under the Smart City initiative, is now ready. He instructed officials to coordinate with the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister to fix an inauguration date at the earliest and initiate the process to open the facility for public service.
₹22 Crore Multi-Level Car Parking Facility:
Constructed at a cost of ₹22 crore, the facility includes 50 commercial shops on the ground and first floors. Car parking is available from the first to the fourth floors, accommodating 31 vehicles per floor, with a total capacity of 124 cars. The building is equipped with an elevator, six toilets, staircases, and a tensile roofing system on the terrace.
Gandhi Bazaar Road Inspection:
During the inspection of Gandhi Bazaar Main Road and Gandhi Bazaar Circle, the Chief Commissioner appreciated the comprehensive development work, including the installation of granite cobblestones, bollards on footpaths, and white-topping of the road surface.
Standardized Umbrellas for Street Vendors:
Demarcated zones have already been allocated to street vendors along Gandhi Bazaar Road, and vendors must operate strictly within these limits. Action will be taken against those who encroach beyond the allotted space. Parking on footpaths must be strictly prohibited. To enhance the market’s visual appeal, all vendors should be provided with standardized umbrellas. Officials were instructed to review and finalize a suitable umbrella design.
Transform Koramangala Waste Management Unit into a Model Facility:
The waste processing unit at Koramangala must be developed into a model facility, with appropriate arrangements made for visitors coming for training or study purposes. The unit comprises a material recovery facility, dry waste collection unit, biogas plant, and mini transfer station. Officials were directed to ensure proper maintenance and regular spraying to prevent foul odors.
Allocate Space for Reusable Material Collection:
Each zone should identify and reserve a space for the collection of reusable items such as cots, furniture, and other household articles. Zone-wise locations must be earmarked and systems put in place to facilitate the delivery of reusable materials to these designated spots.
