10 days night curfew from Dec. 28. Hotels and Clubs function with 50% capacity till Jan. 2

Amid new year celebrations and steady rise in the cases of Omicron, the state government has issued a notification imposing night curfew from December 28 from 10 pm to 5 am for 10 days.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai chaired a detailed meeting with Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, Revenue Minister R. Ashok, Health Minister K. Sudhakar, Chief Secretary Ravi Kumar and Technical Advisory Committee members analysed the prevailing situation on Covid and Omicron.

Night curfew has put brakes on new year celebrations on the streets, especially on MG Road and Brigade Road. Bars, pubs, resorts and clubs are allowed to function with only 50 per cent occupancy. All clubs, bars and restaurants should shut shops at 10 pm without fail until January 2 from December 28.

All gatherings, meetings, conferences, including marriages from December 28 should strictly limit the number of participants to 300 people. Covid appropriate behaviour must be strictly complied with, said Mr. Sudhakar.

There shall be intensive patrolling and surveillance at all bordering districts adjoining Maharashtra and Kerala states to prevent spread of Covid-19, particularly Omicron variant, in the state.

In the wake of rising Omicron variant of Covid-19, it is imperative that the additional containment measures be imposed proactively to break the chain of transmission in the state, he added.
