Zameer Ahmad Khan distributes title deeds to Hakki Pikki, nomadic communities, and families of sex workers

Bengaluru, June 11: Housing, Minorities Welfare and Wakf Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan on Tuesday distributed sanction letters and title deeds to 777 families across three Assembly constituencies who had been residing without any legal documentation for decades.

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the minister issued housing sanction letters and title deeds to members of the Hakki Pikki and nomadic communities, sex workers, and families which recovered from leprosy.

In Yalachaguppe, Yeshwanthpur constituency, 228 families from the Hakki Pikki colony were given documents, along with 259 title deeds in the Madiga Channaiah slum. In the same village, 200 families belonging to the sex worker and nomadic communities were granted housing sanction letters.

In the BK Slum of Giddenahalli village in Yelahanka constituency, 40 families received sanction letters.

In the Matapura Dalit Colony of Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency, 50 housing sanction letters were distributed to families cured of leprosy.

Zameer Ahmad Khan shares meal in a Nomadic community shed

During the distribution of housing letters at the Madara Channaiah Slum in Yalachaguppe village of Yeshwanthpur constituency, Zameer Ahmad Khan joined Slum Board Chairman Prasad Abbayya and shared a meal with the family of Sharanaiah, a member of the nomadic community, inside their makeshift shed.

The minister instructed officials to ensure permanent housing is provided to the family as early as possible.

“It was our fortune that the minister came and dined in our humble shed. He insisted on eating the food we lovingly prepared. His simplicity speaks volumes,” said Sharanaiah.
