BENGALURU: Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil described the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday as a balanced one with a vision for social justice, economic development, industrial growth and elimination of regional discrimination.
He also expressed his joy on behalf of the people of the district of Vijayapura for announcing a horticulture college at Alamela, a food park near Ittangihala and an inland fisheries skill development centre at Alamatti.
Siddaramaiah has presented the budget for the record 15th time and this is a testimony to his vision of building a strong Karnataka.
The budget demonstrates the government’s commitment to the development of the entire state by giving equal emphasis to agriculture, farmers’ empowerment, industry, infrastructure, setting up of modern industries, and attention to job creation. Further, the priority to increase facilities in holy places like Srishaila, and Mantralaya, push for fishing, and upgradation of health sector would yield positive results in the coming days, he explained.
Along with the necessity to increase revenue collection in the state, there is an urgent need to pay attention to the upliftment of the weaker sections. However, though we are second in the country in GST collection, the BJP government at the centre is engaged in injustice in its distribution. Siddaramaiah’s mention of this in the budget speech shows our concern for the protection of the state’s rights, Patil asserted.
“Economic growth and infrastructure development are related to each other. Accordingly, Siddaramaiah has made a fresh announcement to prepare several feasibility reports under the Karnataka Infrastructure Scheme Development Fund. Siddaramaiah has exhibited the will of our government to develop world-class infrastructure in Bengaluru city”, the Minister claimed.
The Congress government does not believe in discrimination in the name of caste and religion like the BJP, he slammed.
