Ward Delimitation to Commission from August 3: DCM

Massive e-khata awareness drive from October 22

Bengaluru, July 29: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today said the Ward Delimitation process would start the work of redrawing ward boundaries under the newly formed Greater Bengaluru Authority from August 3.

Speaking to reporters after holding a meeting with Greater Bengaluru Authority officials, the DCM, who also holds Bengaluru development portfolio, said, “The Commission will carry out works like ward boundary identification, receiving objections, etc for a month during August. The reservation process for the wards would be completed after this. The report would be submitted to the courts once the final report is ready. We will prepare for the elections once these activities are completed.”

E-khata campaign from October 22:

“In order to create awareness about e-khatas, we are organising a massive awareness campaign from October 22 to November 1. Of the 24 lakh A and B khata holders in the city, about 6.5 lakh e-khatas have been issued. We have given directions to make use of teachers, Bescom bill collectors and BBMP workers in this campaign,” he informed.

“We will be issuing guidelines for getting B khatas converted to A khatas from August 15. Details such as eligibility, application process would be released soon,” he added.

Hebbal flyover to be inaugurated before August 15:

“We are thinking of inaugurating the new section of Hebbal flyover, newly developed Shivananda circle and multi-storied parking near Gandhi bazar before August 15,” he announced.

Replying to a question on BJP State President Vijayendra’s criticism that the frequent Delhi visits of CM and DCM was affecting governance, he said, “We are travelling to Delhi on July 31 to visit ambassadors. On August 2, we are attending a programme on Constitution at Vigyan Bhavan.”
