The United Kingdom (UK) Kannada Balaga has extended an invitation to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to attend the grand Deepavali and Kannada Rajyotsava festivals, which will be celebrated in Coventry, England this November. This program will be attended by hundreds of Kannadigas across the globe.
Sumana Girish, the current president of Kannada Balaga in the United Kingdom, met the Chief Minister and extended a special invitation for the Deepavali and Kannada Rajyotsava celebration, which will be attended by thousands of Kannadigas.
“For the past 40 years, Kannada Balaga UK has been preserving and promoting Kannada culture with dedication and pride, fostering the Kannada spirit across the seas. With the aim of spreading the essence of Kannada outside the state, the organization has hosted numerous Kannada-centric events over the past four decades. Bringing together Kannadigas on foreign soil and keeping the language and culture alive among them is a challenging task. In this regard, Kannada Balaga UK has done a remarkable job, ensuring that the identity of Kannada continues to thrive in the UK”, said Sumana Girish.
In fact, Kannada Balaga UK has the distinction of organizing the first World Kannada Conference outside Karnataka in 1988, inviting the then Chief Minister S.R. Bommai, along with renowned politicians, writers, and film actors. Since then, the organization has consistently invited prominent personalities from Karnataka and has been hosting special programs twice a year, for Ugadi and Deepavali.
This year too, Kannada Balaga UK is preparing to organize events that reflect Kannada culture and heritage. In this context, Sumana Girish, the president of the organization, traveled from London to personally invite the Chief Minister to the event.
