Top priority to bring Naveen’s mortal remains: CM Bommai

Bengaluru. Mar. 2:

Apart from brining the stranded Karnataka students back home, getting mortal remains of Naveen, who lost his life in the war zone of Ukraine, is the top priority for State government. All help and cooperation would be extended to Naveen’s family, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. 

Speaking to media persons Bommai said, Naveen’s friends have sent a few photographs of a body with dress resembling what Naveen was wearing, however, it has to be confirmed with the External Affairs minister and the officials of the Indian Embassy in Ukraine. Serious efforts are being made to bring Naveen’s body back home, Bommai said.

Replying to a query Mr. Bommai said that an ex-gratia too would be presented to Naveen’s family, however the top priority now is to bring his mortal remains back. 

The Government of India is making relentless efforts to evacuate the Indians stranded in Ukraine, 26 aircraft would be sent to bring home Indians in the next 2-3 days. “We are trying to get as many Kannadigas as possible among them,” Bommai said.

The task is proving tough as the war is raging. The Indian government it coordinating with the Ukraine government to make arrangements for passage of Indians in groups to safe zones and railway stations through the Western region of Ukraine, Bommai said.

Efforts are on to get more information on whereabouts of one of Naveen’s friends who is said to have been injured. There are conflicting reports about him. We are trying to get exact details, Bommai said.
