State-level three-day football tournament flagged off

Let the players make good use of the available facilities and bring glory to the country

Bengaluru, June 16:
As part of 5th anniversary of the Karnataka Media Journalist Union (KMNU) a three-day state-level spectacular football tournament began from June 15 at Kantheerava Stadium. Finals will be held on June 17.
Former international footballer Sundareshan inaugurated the tournament.

Speaking after the inauguration on Saturday Sundareshan reminisced about his early football days. Although my inclination and interest in football started in school days, I only got the chance to play football when I joined the army. Later, I joined ITI in 1975. With the support and encouragement extended by ITI, I became a well trained footballer and represented our country.
Even though there were not much facilities when I started my football career, we made a name for ourselves in football. Now the football game is extremely modernized and there is a huge difference between our time and the current season. Now, a good range of coaches and facilities are up-to-date from an early age. He hoped that the footballers would play well and bring glory to the country and the state.
A total of eight teams will participate in the state level tournament. The opening match was played between Kickstart FC Karnataka and UKDFA in which Kickstart FC Karnataka won by a huge margin of 8-0 goals.
