Rajyasabha Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge along with his five staff members, at his office, have tested positive for Corona on Thursday.
Mr. Kharge was part of inauguration of Mekedatu padaytra by beating drums.
With this, the Congress has come under the eye of the storm for being adament to carryout 11-day padayatra and not caring for the surge in Covid cases.
Home Minister Araga Jnanendra has stated that former union minister Veerappa Moily, former minister Shivashankar Reddy, senior Congress leader Mallajamma have also tested positive for Corona. All of them participated in Mekedatu padayatra.
As predicted earlier, Congress rally might give rise to lockdown situation in the state and Congress will have to take responsibility, many participants are testing positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders held a meet at Ramanagar office and subsequently decided to call off the padayatra temporarily.
Earlier in the day, the police had beefed up security at Aijur circle in Ramanagar, the starting point of padaytra on Thursday. The rally is being planned to move through Bengaluru-Mysuru highway and reach Bidadi.
Ramanagar SP Girish stated on Wednesday that the complaint has been lodged as per the complaint by the Tehsildar in Kanakapura police station.
This is the third FIR on Congress leaders who are going ahead with the padayatra amid the Covid third wave and curfew orders.
